[edit]Should there be wikilinks with every WA school when they lead to dead-ends? --Harro5 07:33, Apr 14, 2005 (UTC)
Probably not, people can make them links if they want. Decat2 (talk) 06:20, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
I have replaced the word 'private' with 'independent', as private means students must be selected through a test, and this is not the case. Also, the other schools are not 'public', they are 'government' schools. Changed accordingly. --Harro5 05:20, Apr 14, 2005 (UTC)
No, Private Schools Are either "Catholic" (founded and/or run by the catholic church) or "Indepenent" (other religions/non religious). schools that select students through a test are "Selective" Schools, only New South Wales and Victoria have these. Goverment schools are usally called "public" schools. this is an Australian article, it should use australian terminology. Decat2 (talk) 06:20, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't really see the point of having this page. There's a lot of schools in Australia. Do we need to have a list of them? Ambivalenthysteria 06:54, 17 Apr 2004 (UTC)
I agree. Unfortunately, I lost the battle a long time ago. RickK 06:56, 17 Apr 2004 (UTC)
I see your point, lists of lists but if we delete this page then the question is how far do we go back? What is the policy on lists, or lists of lists?--Lukeisham 12:58, 17 Apr 2004 (UTC)
- Where the articles List of schools in Tasmania (etc. for other states) exist, is it preferable to point readers of this page to the more thorough individual state articles? -- Chuq 12:05, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
I have to agree this page is pretty silly. Yes, you can name every school in Australia - but the list would be gigantic. The one for the ACT alone encompasses dozens and dozens and dozens of schools. Are we really suggesting having five thousand list items, 99% of which will be dead links? Why not have a list of Australian suburbs? Or of Oceanic supermarkets? The page is attempting to list something that's far too local to be put all in one place (assuming they deserve a mention at all). El T 13:22, 30 August 2005 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]After shaking my head at this page for months, I have finally cleaned it up. All the schools that were listed here have been moved to the appropriate state or territory page. All that is left now is a listing of those pages, similar to Lists of high schools in the United States. -- Ianblair23 04:28, 7 September 2005 (UTC)
- Good work, Ian. El T 16:24, 17 October 2005 (UTC)
Youv'e done some good work here. i'm looking at changing all lists to the same format for consistency. also should the university be on the tasmania list? because it's not really a school. Also, should there really be all those sepatrate lists for specilty schools in New South Wales? Decat2 (talk) 06:23, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
