Hi, you don't have an e-mail address listed with your user ID, so I'll address you here.
You have a website that includes a shot of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Is it OK if we use this picture for the wikipedia article of Sydney Harbour Bridge?
Could you upload a larger version of your Opera House picture? The current one is very small, and to be able to add a link to a bigger one would be nice. --Robert Merkel
Sorry eveyone i was style in traveling and forgot to check this page. So yeah Arno i have a Sydney Harbour Bridge on my website (but currently down). And yeah i will upload a larger Opera House picture as soon i get my website back.
--Chmouel
Update i have uploaded the two pictures asked as :

and
PS: Please send me email chmouel@chmouel.com it's way better to contact me.
Nice! I really don't think much of that sunset picture of Sydney Harbour Bridge (no offence to whoever took it). Your one is much better. -- Tim Starling 02:17 21 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Hello, The picture of the lighthouse in the Tierra del Fuego is from Ushuia, in the main island (island of Tierra del Fuego) or in the island of the states (isla de los estados)?. The so called lighthouse of the end the world, mentioned by Jules Verne in the epomyn novel, is in the last island and not in the Tierra del Fuego main island.
Baloo rch 19:03, 23 Jan 2004 (UTC)
- I think you are right it's in the island of states (i took the picture on a boat excursion from ushuaia) do you wants me to move this picture from there to the Staten_Island,_Argentina article ?
- --Chmouel Boudjnah 19:15, 1 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- I have bunch of Pictures from Tierra del Fuego on http://www.chmouel.com/geeklog/gallery/gallery_individual.php/argentina/ but i don't know which one represent the best the Tierra del Fuego. Ushuaia ? Califate ? Puerto Madrew ? WDYT ?

Nice photo at Palenque! Better photos at Tikal are welcome-- while I've chanced to take a couple of decent pictures now and again, more than half of my own photos which I've uploaded to Wikipedia I'd rank as mediocre ones I just thought were better than nothing and I hope we'll get something better some day. I saw you have at least one good photo of Chichicastenango-- I had an article on it almost done over a year ago when my old computor crashed. Maybe if you offer use of your fine illustration I'll be inspired to try writing it up again. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 11:04, 4 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- I have uploaded new pictures of Tikal. I have uploaded a picture of Chichicastenango on Image:Chichicastenango.jpg let me know what do you ting. I would be glad to help you on writing the article but i am not a really good writer. Cheers, --Chmouel Boudjnah 20:03, 4 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Indonesia-Bull.jpg
[edit]Hi there. The image you just added to cattle is not a bull but rather a water buffalo. It's a splendid photograph, but I think it better belongs in the water buffalo article. Cheers, Hadal 22:37, 5 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- I think you are right, i didn't know that actually :) (i just take pictures you know ;)) i will update it. Thanks. --Chmouel Boudjnah 00:33, 6 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Hi Chmouel - your 'sea lion' photo at Sea lion shows some true Earless seals (family Phocidae), not Sea lions! Not quite sure which species, I'll see if I can find out. - MPF 16:26, 23 Feb 2004 (UTC)
On a similar note, Image:Sydney Subway.jpg is not a subway but a monorail. IIRC it is raised above street level for its entire length. -- Tim Starling 05:35, Feb 6, 2004 (UTC)
- So should i move it to Monorail ? seems like the Sydney subway for me (that where i took it). --Chmouel Boudjnah 10:19, 6 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Hi, can you comment on One_Hundred_Years_of_Solitude at Wikipedia:Possible copyright infringements ? Thanks. Markalexander100 05:12, 25 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Also Buchmendel; Jean-Christophe_Rufin. Thanks. Markalexander100 01:40, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- I made a mistake how can i fix that ? Chmouel Boudjnah
You should probably vote to delete the pages on Wikipedia:Possible copyright infringements (March 2 section); and it would be even better if you wrote some original pieces to replace them. :) Markalexander100 03:01, 4 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Hi! I have a comment on your pic added to Tattoo. I know you are an excellent photographer but why did you add an out-of-focus pic to the article? Perhaps you liked the effect but it's not suitable for an encyclopedia. So I'm afraid I've removed it. Sorry!
Adrian Pingstone 20:18, 27 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- No problem i wasn't sure as well if it was a good subject for the article or not. Chmouel 20:53, 27 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- (not a vote) Given that this contains pictures of recognisable people, do you have a signed model release? (I'm not saying one is necessarily required, but as wikipedia surely counts as "publication" then it's likely one is). -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 22:52, 28 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- I have been asking to the mum to take the picture but i don't know if she would agree that it would be on wikipedia. (thought she knows that i was going to put it on my website). Since i cannot contact her anymore, do you think i should remove the picture ? Chmouel 22:58, 28 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Urgh. It's a horribly complicated legal issue, and it differs radically between jurisdictions (particularly wrt countries that have "privacy" laws - a quick google for "model release" france seems to suggest that at least for France it's a significant issue). For those jurisdictions which restrict "commercial" use, your homepage is probably fine, but wikipedia probably isn't. I honestly don't know if wikipedia has a policy. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 23:18, 28 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- This picture has been taken in Ireland (the mum should be irish but i tell you frankly i can't make differences between all the british accents and the irish), i don't know that much of the laws there, until there is a policy clarification i may have better to remove the picture and i don't really wants to do a "jurisprudence". -- Chmouel 23:24, 28 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Well and anyway i may switch it to this picture this is my niece and my brother and sister in law doen't have any problem with the copyright things. Chmouel 23:30, 28 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to give you grief over the model release issue, particularly when I don't have a definative answer myself. Only yesterday I took some (for me) excellent photos of farmworkers burning stubble in a local field, and I'm cursing how many of the good ones have the worker's face clearly visible (I tend to err on the side of caution and just not use those for anything). If you've seen the language in a typical model release (again, there's plenty to be found on the web) it's so lengthy and detailed that it's (to my mind) entirely impractical to go running up to people and ask them to sign what is essentially a legal contract. Except maybe for strict places like France I'm probably totally over-reacting. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 23:51, 28 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- I understand the 'problem' i should have think about that before, anyway it is not a big deal for me and i have another picture that can have the same job as the compromised one. But i think we should talk about that to the wikipedia gurus of the laws Chmouel 00:03, 29 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- The only place there seems to be any such guru is on the Wikipedia:Copyright problems page, and frankly that's largely people like myself (i.e. mostly talking out of their ass). There are a couple of lawyers, but naturally they resolutely refuse to provide anything resembling an opinion. I do like your Irish Mommy photo - lets leave it on the nominations page, I'm sure others will have knowledge or opinions regarding this issue. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 00:19, 29 Mar 2004 (UTC)
- Cool you are the guy to talk to. I have already reverted most of my changes and i do think as well that's is not fair to put pictures of people without asking them so it may be better that i leave it like this. Chmouel 00:26, 29 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Hi Chmouel. About the pictures you mention, I asked on IRC (#wikipedia) before uploading the files just to know if I should reduce them. Since MediaWiki now supports automatic scaling of images, the answer I got was that it is generally fine to upload pictures at their maximum level of detail as long as I display just a scaled down thumbnail in articles (which I always do). The reasons to keep images at their maximum resolution are that A) visitors can get a full-detail version in case they need it, and B) if Wikipedia ever gets printed on paper (Wikipedia 1.0) it will need pictures in very high resolutions. Thus, I am refraining from reducing the images I upload and I'd like you to keep them like that if you don't mind. However, I can provide small versions of every image if you consider that to be a proper solution. If you still don't agree I will be glad discuss this further.
Thanks a lot for asking beforehand. Someone else has reduced aleady reduced one of the pictures, found in Image:Che Guevara statue closup.jpg, without prior notice. Still I'm not planning to put the large image up again. Pilaf 20:54, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Guatemalan market pic
[edit]In case you're interested - I just turned Image:Chichicastenango.jpg into Image:Market-Chichicastenango.jpg for Economics. Cropped, severely turned the gamma up, brightened a whole lot. The quality is somewhat lowered (JPEG to JPEG), but it's just a decoration for the top of the article - David Gerard 14:56, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- looks good for me the change would have been good enough to replace the original as well. Cheers -- Chmouel 18:08, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Do you have the original camera image? I'll see if I can do the same starting from that - David Gerard 21:50, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Thank you! New version at Image:Market-Chichicastenango.jpg - much higher resolution - David Gerard 22:42, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- Great we may want to merge the two of them ? (upload the new one to Image:Chichicastenango.jpg change Economics picture to point it and ask for deletion or maybe there is a lot of free space in wpedia server :) -- Chmouel 01:20, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)
- I've put the new one on the pages and listed the old one on WP:IFD. The only remaining link to the old one is your images page - David Gerard 08:36, 17 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Emacs commands
[edit]Hi,
I like the idea of including useful commands like file open, but I'm unwilling to start adding commands because I don't see ever stopping. With regret I've undone your additions. Perhaps you can come up with a criteria for when to stop. See Talk:Emacs for my criteria as to what to include in the list. (Basically, whatever can't be fixed with "save & exit".) Let's take the discussion there. --Kop 02:32, 28 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Image copyrights
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Palenque Ruins.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much, — Edwin Stearns | Talk 20:17, 14 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- As my user page say all my picture are under GFD license, it just that i forgot sometime to add the {{GFDL}} tag. Thanks to remind me. Chmouel 06:41, 18 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Would you be willing to dual license your images under CC-SA? I would love to use eg. Image:Israel-Jerusalem_Old_City.jpg on Wikitravel. Jpatokal 14:34, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Yep that cool, i have no problems with that... Chmouel 10:19, 15 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hi Chmouel,
I came across Image:Ireland-High-Cross.jpg today, and noticed it had been pushed to Commons:Image:Ireland-High-Cross.jpg. Those images are lower resolution, 544x800, than the original you have on your web site. I uploaded the original high-resolution version to the Commons (the second version in the "image history"). I assume you're willing to license that version under the GFDL? I'm curious why you reduced the resolution. Please see Commons:Image talk:Ireland-High-Cross.jpg.
Thanks, dbenbenn | talk 00:32, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Hey dbenbenn, i just push the low one because the big one was maybe a litle bit too much for slow connection, but well i guess it's ok big resolution picture theses day in wikipedia. cheers, Chmouel 08:51, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Hello again! I pushed Image:Indonesia-Cofee.jpg to Commons:Image:Handmaking coffee in Indonesia.jpg. Remembering what you said, I tried to check chmouel.com for a higher resolution version of that photo. But your web site appears to be down! Is that just temporary? Thanks, dbenbenn | talk 04:28, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Pic of the Day
[edit]Hi Chmouel,
Just to let you know that your photo Image:Ireland-High-Cross.jpg is up for reuse as Pic of the Day on the 29th April. I've reused the same caption as last time, but you can check it at Wikipedia:Picture of the day/April 29, 2005. -- Solipsist 22:05, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- ... and your photo Image:Indonesia-Bull.jpg is due to make a reappearance as Pic of the Day on the 8th June. The caption can be checked and ammended at Wikipedia:Picture of the day/June 8, 2005. - Solipsist 19:50, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Chocolate fountain?
[edit]I have never seen a chocolate fountain as pictured in Image:Chocolate_fountain.jpg. How fast does it flow? Could it be said to "ooze" or "dribble" or perhaps "slide"? If the chocolate is very fluid, then it probably could be said to "flow gently", but I would be surprised to see a big splash at the bottom of the fountain. Thanks! -- ke4roh 18:20, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)
- As far as i remember (i took this picture two years ago) the chocolate was flowing gently over, didn't know how it works thought. -- Chmouel 23:07, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I've reused the caption from a year ago, but you can make any changes at Wikipedia:Picture of the day/August 5, 2005. -- Solipsist 20:01, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
- And your next one is Image:Glass-Ball.jpg due up tomorrow, with the caption at Wikipedia:Picture of the day/August 31, 2005. -- Solipsist 10:32, 30 August 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, to be brutal, but I find this image to be highly unencyclopedic. The person's head is more the subject matter of the photo than the mountain or the sunrise. Maybe you another that might be better suited. I took a look at your gallery. Quite nice photos. --None-of-the-Above 18:20, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
- I quite disagree for me it show the kind of ``englight`` by the morning at the Mount Sinai more than a simple sunrise. But well.... --06:22, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
Irish Castles
[edit]There's a fine picture of Cahir Castle in the article, which you posted there. I had a look at the Irish pictures on your websites - several castles, but none identified: can you help? The view of the Rock of Cashel from its base is excellent. There are many pictures of pints of beer and Guinness - couldn't you find any decent wines?--shtove 00:16, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hello, sorry but i could not remember the names of the Castle where i went :(. Being born in France i am use to drink a lot of wine so going to Ireland at least was to make a change :). Chmouel 12:11, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Chmouel Boudjnah.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). [edit]Hi Chmouel,
My name is Fernanda Viégas and I have been studying Wikipedia for a while now (you can see a paper I published on the subject here). I would like to ask you a few questions about your activities as a Wikipedia image creator. I am fascinated by the pictorial side of Wikipedia and it would be great to hear about this community from one of its members. Would you be available to participate an email survey this week? Thanks, — Fernanda 03:11, 4 April 2006 (UTC) | talk
- Hi again, Chmouel. I have started sending out the questionnaire to participants in the study and it would be great if you could participate too. French webpage as it relates to Image:1145696730.jpg
[edit]Hello. I was working through new uploads, tagging images which do not specify source and/or license information when I came across Image:1145696730.jpg. The uploader specified the source of the image as this website and provided no license information. I would like to see what the website's image copyright policy is, but I cannot understand a word on the website as it is written in French. I noticed that your user page contains a native French speaker userbox. If you wouldn't mind, could you have a look at the website when you get a free moment and give me some information regarding the copyright policy of the website? Request to update your licenses on Picasa
[edit]Hi Chmouel, I came across an image (File:Ireland-High-Cross-large.jpg) based on some of your images on Picasa. Because you never uploaded a high-resolution version of this image to Wikipedia yourself, it's being considered for deletion. If you would, could you please go to your Picasa account and update the license of all your images to a Creative Commons license (either Attribution or Attribution-Share Alike would be fine - you have to check "Allow commercial use" and "Allow remixing"). Let me know on my talk page if you need help figuring out how to do this. Dcoetzee 09:43, 2 March 2010 (UTC)
Chmouel (talk) Worked out with Dcoetzee and seems to be fine now?
Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Chmouel! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 1 of the articles that you created is currently tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 234 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
